In 1727 Johann Schulze discovered photosensitive silver salts which could darken when exposed to light. This led to many experiments among scientists who aimed towards creating true photograph like creation devices or technologies.

Although these early apparatuses are not technically ‘cameras’ per se, they did lead to significant advancements in this field.
