Maddie Ziegler is a name that has become synonymous with contemporary dance. She first achieved fame through the reality TV show ‘Dance Moms’ and went on to gain international recognition as the star of several of Sia’s music videos, including ‘Chandelier’ and ‘Elastic Heart’.
Born in September 2002, Maddie started dancing when she was just two years old. By the time she was six, she had already won numerous dance competitions across the country and had caught the attention of Abby Lee Miller who would go on to mentor her on Dance Moms.
On Dance Moms, Maddie quickly became one of the standout dancers thanks to her technical skill and emotive performances. Her work ethic also earned her praise from Abby Lee Miller who often treated Maddie like a favorite student.
After leaving Dance Moms in 2016 following six seasons on the show, Maddie continued to focus on her dancing career. She joined Sia’s tour as a dancer and collaborated with singer/songwriter Jacob Sartorius for his single “Nothin’ With You.”
Although many fans believe that Maddie left behind all types of competitive dancing after starring in “The Book Of Henry”, an announcement made by Dance Spirit magazine revealed that Mackenzie Ziegler will be joining new competition series Dancing With The Stars: Juniors as part of its cast; putting an end to rumors about both Mackenzie’s participation alongside sister Maddie which were previously suspected upon pro-DWTS junior casting developments earlier this year.
Additionally, interestingly enough there is no official statement or update from either Sia or any dance academy regarding whether or not they are still working together- at least publicly (as far as we could find).
Despite all that said above about what other things might have taken over most recent endeavors thus keeping us from being sure whether Madison Ziegler is still passionate about ballroom/traditional performances having come from a more competitive background- the teenager has continued to be involved in dance to some degree over the years.
In 2017 Maddie took on a new challenge when she joined the cast of The Book of Henry, a movie in which she played a dancer. This role required her to learn new styles of dance and gave her an excellent opportunity to showcase her talent on the big screen.
Following that was an appearance as judge for So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation – where fans saw Maddie continue pursuing career avenues away from just starring roles.
Maddie has also made various guest appearances on different TV shows such as NBC’s “Chicago PD” season five episode ‘Profiles’, alongside Sophia Lillis, where they play teenagers that are heavily involved with each other while auditioning for a spot at one Chicago’s most prominent universities; whether or not their efforts would be reciprocated is something left up in speculation by viewers until this day.
Whether or not Maddie Ziegler is still dancing may remain ambiguous but it certainly doesn’t seem like there will ever be any shortage of opportunities for this gifted teen starlet. With multiple projects under way across both television screens and movies alike, it’s almost guaranteed that we’ll see or hear about Maddie reappearing back into yellow spotlight on more than one occasion throughout upcoming years- even if it isn’t related solely around contemporary dances!
